“If I can help someone, then my living shall not be in vain.”

-Martin Luther King Jr.

Last month, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless received the prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award. On January 10th, the agency was recognized for their endless hours of effort poured into the holistic wellness of their community’s homeless and at risk homeless population. Their effort to prevent and create lasting solutions for homeless families and individuals has set them apart from the rest, boasting assistance to over 15,000 individuals a year. This by far isn’t their first award! Since their founding in 1984, the Coalition has received many awards praising their understanding of social causes surrounding homelessness and their effective response towards combating it.

“We believe all people have the right to adequate housing and healthcare. By removing barriers to these rights, we are able to help individuals and families live healthier, happier lives, while also building stronger, caring communities,” said John Parvensky, President and CEO of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. “We are truly honored to receive this award and to be among these caring and community-minded award recipients.”
