A new bill, called Child Care for Working Families Act, was introduced on Thursday by Bobby Scott. The goal of this act is to make child care more affordable for working class families. Its hope is to make families who earn less than 150% of their state income spend no more than 7% of their income on child care. To achieve this, the government would increase funding for federal child care facilities, create federal-state partnerships and provide better training, compensation and support for the workforce, so that child care centers will be universal. Statistics show that over 2 million women did not work this year because they cannot afford child care. There are not many  government programs that directly help with childcare, and working class families spend about 30% of their income on childcare.  According to CAP, only 15% of children who are eligible receive  assistance because Congress does not have enough money to fund it.   To read more about this new bill visit Child Care for Working Families Act .
