Automated pill dispensers aid seniors who take multiple prescriptions; a caregiver or doctor can input the protocol and medicine dosages with an alarm for every time the patient is supposed to take the medicine. This is great for seniors who are battling some form of Dementia or just have a hard time remembering to take multiple prescriptions. Smart home technologies are also having their debut in Senior Living Homes. Many elderly people have now become adept to using laptops, smart phones, and tablets. These devices can help seniors feel close to their families by allowing them to video chat with using Facetime, Skype, and other similar apps. Seniors may also use smart technology such as Amazon’s Alexa or Google smart devices to ask about appointment dates, medicine alarms, and daily activity reminders. Other devices that have become popular in assisted living homes are wireless necklaces that can call for help if one has fallen and seriously injured himself, devices that monitor one’s vital signs, virtual assistants or automated voices to guide the user on a touch pad, cameras to ensure care givers are properly caring for their patient, GPS services, apps and much more. In the future, we can probably expect to see more of these devices readily available in all nursing homes.
