World Food Day

By / October 16, 2018 / / 0 Comments

Every October 16th, 150 countries around the world celebrate World Food Day. Created by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Food Day is celebrated as an effort to bring awareness and gather more support to understand how we can all work together to end world hunger globally. This year’s theme is Zero Hunger by 2030, and it emphasizes  more sustainable  lifestyles, stronger collaboration, and sharing knowledge and open to making changes for a healthier world (1).  According to the FAO, the decline in world hunger has slowly regressed, and is in fact beginning to increase with over 820 million suffering from chronic undernourishment(1). Zero Hunger works towards creating a long-term approach to ending world hunger by creating an inclusive society, ensuring resilience in rural societies, the use of innovative technologies, and creating opportunities for more employment. Watch the video below provided by the FAO to learn more about #ZeroHunger.
