Valentine’s Day, a day of celebrating and expressing love through giving flowers, confectionery and greeting cards.

To celebrate love is to celebrate life.

In 1998, the Saturn Corporation and its United Auto Workers partners raised awareness for organ, eye, tissue, marrow, platelet and blood donation. Backed by the Department of Health and Human Services, Valentine’s Day has also been denoted as “National Donor Day”. On a day full of “heart felt” gestures, what would be a better way of expressing love than to commit to saving and healing lives? The idea behind this day of observance is to raise awareness while encouraging individuals to register themselves as an organ donor. Today, there are nearly 120,000 patients on the waiting list looking to receive a lifesaving organ transplant. In addition to that, there are countless others in need of cornea, tissue, bone marrow, blood and platelet donation. Every two seconds, there is a person that needs a blood transfusion which equates to a need of 41,000 daily donations. Just one potential donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation and save or heal more than 75 lives through eye and tissue donation. As a partner with communities around the country, Adsystech understands the impact and need within the health community. On this Valentine’s Day, don’t just show your heart, have a heart and register yourself as an organ donor.
