Running for a Cause

By / February 23, 2017 / / 0 Comments

It’s coming around to that time again!

June is fast arriving and CAPS Lake County is getting ready for their 10th Annual Anti-Poverty 5k! Last year, like every year proceeding, was a huge success. Coupled with the 5k, CAPS Lake county also had a Steppin’ Dance Competition. Both of these events raised funds to benefit an initiative to provide housing to veterans, scholarships for the Kids Club Summer Day Camp,as well as before- and after-school care programs.

“CAP Lake County is one of the largest social service organizations in the area, serving 24,000 individuals and families annually, said Hayes. The agency aims to reduce the causes and effects of poverty, promote self-sufficiency of families and individuals with low incomes, and improve the standard of living in the Lake County service area.”

Creating ways to fund-raise and serve their surrounding communities, CAPS Lake County has really found a way with “running” with fun ideas and “swinging” them into action! Going into their 10th annual year of this particular fundraising event is not only exciting, but a celebratory milestone!
